PLAYING UP is an artwork by Sibylle Peters and Theatre of Research, exploring the potential of Live Art to bridge generations. Drawing on key Live Art themes and seminal works, PLAYING UP takes the form of a game played by adults and kids together.

On this website you will find project information, notes on how to play, and announcements, as well as documentary material from PLAYING UP events.

PLAYING UP is a collaboration between Theatre of Research, Live Art Development Agency (LADA) and Tate Early Years and Family Programme

Make clothes out of food, lie on top of cars, dance with animals, have a ketchup fight, follow a random passerby , invent your own form of sport, search for miracles.

PLAYING UP is also a series of events: a public play in and a symposium. It will also include all the sessions when the game is played, at home, in school or in your neighbourhood. And there are more things to come! You are invited to share your own experiences, pictures and thoughts too in our gallery on this site.

From 1st – 3rd April we launched PLAYING UP in the Turbine Hall at Tate Modern!
